Hi Alan,
Are you using the systemd version or the sysv version? Can you check to
make sure that your system has an IP address please?
On systemd, check that systemd-resolved is running by executing
"systemctl status systemd-resolved". On both sides though, make sure
/etc/resolv.conf is present and is filled in correctly (on systemd,
resolved should take care of that automatically. It can't hurt to check
though!). SysV just uses /etc/resolv.conf.
