Sounds like Windows Media Player is performing the audio extraction then.
I wasn't aware that it had that capability.
I knew it could burn, looks like you have shown me something new! smile
Thanks for the info,
Rick

Yes they were. I actually tried it again before I sent my message just
to make certain I wasn't misremembering something, and it worked.

Rick:
I have a bunch of CDs which I've copied to my hard disk using the
method
I mentioned. I'm running Windows XP, and when I insert a CD, a list
appears containing a selection for copying using Microsoft Media
Player.
The files turn out to be in some sort of proprietary format with a
.wma
extension, but I can still convert them using Goldwave if I need to.

Not if it is a commercially produced music cd.

There should be a list of "picks", one of which would be to copy to
your
hard disk.

When I insert a CD, Winamp comes up and starts playing it. How to I
stop
playing it, and copy it to the hard drive so I can put it on my
Bookport?

Hmmmm, I'll check this out. Along with send space, drop load, and
you
send
it we may have a multitude of choices to pick from.

I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I'll probably screw that

too.

List,
Didn't know if anyone was familiar with this one,
so I thought I'd pass it along.
http://www.mailbigfile.com/
At this time, the service appears to be free, with no registration,
with
a
file size limitation of 512mb.
The site appears to be screen-reader friendly, at least with Jaws.
Ididn't need the Jaws cursor until I wanted to check the progress of
the
upload.
HTH,
Richard Justice
