It did indeed work fine converting one of the eBooks I tested it on, but one 
of the others I wanted to actually read requires the secure MS reader thing, 
and it seems like it's impossible for me to activate the software to enable 
that option.

They have a rather distorted 'audio activation' option, but even though I 
listened to the activation key around 20 times (and it's rather distorted), 
it refused to accept the key I was then typing in.

Suppose I should have expected MS to irritate me - such is life.

Anyway, thanks for the help since it does actually work, but I should have 
known that not everything else would work.
