Yes it is preferable at least in my opinion to use an email address separate from your ISP. That way if you ever change or relocate your email address will not change. It's been well over a year since I moved everything away from that particular address. Like you, I don't like the Yahoo stuff, because there seems to be too many problems with Jaws on this end.
