Larry, There appears to be 3 types of information that you can get from the BookPort about a MP3 file.
1. Percentage of how much has been played. 2. The size of the MP3 file. 3. A useless piece of information that tells you which page you are on in the file. This is useful when reading a book, but... I'm thinking that you can use the first 2 pieces of data to calculate the numbers you need, but I'm not sure it is worth the time. And then it would bring up the question of if you are using a portable device to listen to the MP3 files, what device are you using to record the calculations/numbers you are looking for.
