Compact your folders, all of them, lol? no, seriously!
Choose "file", "folders", then "compact all folders".
This will not hurt your msgs.
Rather, it will try to shrink your folders to clear out already-read msgs and
headers.
Do, not, use, your, computer, while, this, task, is, in, progress; I can't
emphasize that enough...
Two very important items will also get compacted during this task:
folders.dbx
and
pop3uidl.dbx
.
The folders.dbx file contains your hierarchy of folders; compacting this file
clears out foulders you have already deleted and do
not use anymore.
Now, the biggy...
pop3uidl.dbx file keeps track of all sent and received msgs.
You better compact this one on a very regular basis, especially if you receive
mail very frequently and then delete it very
frequently, lol... Especially since not compacting it can, and will, often lead
to duplicate msgs from the same address.
The folders.dbx file is a real show stopper; without it, your msg rules, if you
have any, absolutely, will, not, work, especially if
they point to non-O E folders, like sent items or deleted items.
I hope this helps everyone out who needs this info.
And if you have to, extract the text from this msg and put it in an info file
or somewhere that you keep very important notes.
