Thank you very much for your response David, we did exactly as you suggested this morning and it fixed my problem. Can you please tell us where to get ProcInfo? Thanks Again.

As I have said before use ProcInfo or another utility to discover everything that is loading at startup - processes and programs - and whether it is safe to remove them. Some crucial anti virus software have names that are not obvious - for example Norton Anti virus is CCAP. I have 2 scanners and neither will work without files loaded at startup. Similarly my PDA needs files loaded at startup. It is best to check first. The quickest way to get your scanner back is to repair or reinstall the driver software which came with your scanner - this should reinstate files it needs to load at startup for it to work. Now, when the computer is turned on my scanner does not start. The scanner is a CanoScan LIDE 70 model. It doesn't have an on/off switch. It starts when the computer is booted up. It is powered solely by a USB port. Can anyone tell me which selection in msconfig will power the scanner up? Any help anybody can give will be deeply appreciated.
