If I understand this you can no longer locate your files.
This could be several things. Do you use an external drive to save your
documents on? These can sometimes change drive letter and can confuse
shortcuts and file locations. Hopefully you do not have a corrupted disc.
Make sure that in future you regularly back up important files to avoid this
hassle but we have probably all been where you are now. Lessons are learnt
hard.

I suggest that you try the following 3 steps.

1. Try to locate your files through recent documents in either start menu or
at the end of the file menu in Word. If this works use save as to tab
around the dialogue box to see where the file is located.
2. If this does not work press windows key plus E to open Explorer. Cursor
up once to My Documents - Press tab and investigate what files are in My
Documents and see if you can locate the files you need.
3. If this does not work use a wild card search the search on the start
menu.
Type *.doc as your search string and all the word Documents on your computer
should be found. Type *.dot for the template files.

Best of luck

Subject: [Blind-Computing] problems with Microsoft word

Hey all,
Yesterday when I tried to create a new document I got the message that the
template was not available or that the program could not use the template
that was selected. The problem gets worse. When I tried to open any of my
document files from my document folder it told me that they could not be
found because the address was wrong. I even tried to get to one of them
through a short on my desk top with the same results. I have several
reports due Tuesday and really need some help. Any help would be great.
Thanks.
