This happens to me once in awhile but I'm using Outlook 2000. It will only happen once in awhile if I close Outlook and then reopen without rebooting between. I think the Microsoft Agent or something doesn't close properly because I hear messages coming in even though the program is closed. Rebooting and reopening the email takes care of the trouble.
