Also, if you want to type in a date value, and not a mathematical 
calculation/formula, don't start off the string typed in with that = sign.

Just tested it in a new spreadsheet, and if I simply type in 2/5, it renders 
as 2 May, but if I type in =2/5, it renders as 0.4.
