Hello I do not think this is an error on your part. Unfortunately the message you are getting is not very clear from Ed sharp and this is one of the very few areas where the program could improve.
I have got this message also when Ed Sharp is attempting to open a PDF document with restricted permission. Generally these are PDF files that even when they are opened in Acrobat you are blocked from saving these files as text. Ed Sharp is unable to therefore convert the files into text an you get an error message. There are a few option. 1. Try to read the file in Acrobat using Jaws 2. If this is difficult , and you have Microsoft Office , print to the Microsoft Document Imaging printer. The document Imaging program will open and then use the Tools menu to OCR the text and then use the Tools menu again to send the text to a htm file in Word. In word you can convert to text if need be. I believe that there are programs called PDF to OCR or something on the programs page of Jaws User which might be easier to use. I have never used these as I have got good results from Microsoft Document Imaging.
