Basically, it's something to do with the fact that they're being rendered as 'links' since within something like IE, the two sort of standard colours for links were (in the old days), blue for new ones, and either red or purple for visited/active ones.
All I can think of off-hand is to make sure that you're viewing it in print layout as opposed to web layout or something.
