Hi Maria,
Give Erin's sugggestion a try, that may take care of it.
If not, then try this:
1 from the control panel, select administrative tools, and press enter.
2. When that window opens, select, services, and press enter.
3. When this window opens, you will be in a tree-view, so press the tab key
once, to place you in a list view.
4. Press the letter P, until you come to print spooler, then press enter.
5. Tab until you come to start-up type, and , select, manual, by pressing
the down arrow key.
6. Now, tab to the stop button, and spacebar it.
7. Now, tab to the okay button, and spacebar it, you are done.
This service keeps print jobs in memorey, for later printing,
and with it set to manual, it will not load when Windows does, but will be
there when you go to print a document.
If after changeing this setting, you experience any printing problems,
you can always change it back.
Please let us know how things work out.
HTH,

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Print spooler service

Below is the message I've just started getting.
What is this print spooler service, and how do I stop it, so that I can get
back into stand by?

System Standby Failed
The service 'Print Spooler' is preventing the machine from entering standby.
Try stopping this service and try again.
OK
