and may I add use a throw away email address at either www.mailinator.org or some where else? The one that I mentioned destroys itself after about 4 hours if it doesn't receive any emails so the user will get a bounce. You cannot reply to said emails that you get if you ever want to use it for a test email address and don't need to reply.

Do not ever respond to spam or junk mail via the unsubcribe link. This error in judgement will increase your spam astronomically because spammer just want a way to confirm your mail address. 2. Look for spam filters provided by your ISP. Most internet providers will have a spam program, such as Spam Assassin, that will stop a lot of crapola from ever getting to your inox. If you are unsure about this at your ISP, check with them for supported options. 3. Use web based email. Most web based email services have great spam filters because all users donate to the exclusion lists. I personally like Gmail because I can move messages to the spam folder to mark it as spam or move it from the folder to say "dis not spam". I've been using Gmail for a couple years now and my level of spam is zilch almost. An added feature to Gmail is that you can use it with Outlook Express with minor configurations, other do not offer this. I also like Yahoo mail and I've had accounts there for years with great results. I've sort of moved from Yahoo because of the lack of OE support and message forwarding. 4. If you want to eliminate your spam on personal accounts, create a new account somewhere and do not use a user name that is known as you. For example, if you always use [EMAIL PROTECTED], don't use myname somewhere else. Spammers keep user names for years and just add something to the @... part of the address so that they can find the [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], and so on. Also only give out this personal address to family and friends, never register it at another site. 5. Create multiple accounts for different purposes. For example, I have an account for registering on sites, a personal account, an account for responding to tech questions, a newgroup account and several others. The key is make it easy to get away from the spam. Keeping up with these accounts is easy if you can forward messages to one main account. 6. If none of the above appear useful, you can always check into spam filtering programs. You can find some free and some pay programs that will assist in the fight against spam. Try them until you find something that works for you. 7. Run an anti-spyware program such as Spybot Search and Destroy, Microsoft Defender and Ad-Aware to rid yourself of malware/spyware. 8. Check out online services that may fight spam. One that I haven't fully looked into is Junk Mail Filter,http://www.junkemailfilter.com/spam/, which is endorsed by John C. Dvorak (http://dvorak.org/blog). All of these steps are merely what I do, or consider doing, to avoid the spammer. I used to get mayb 1,000 per week and now I'm down to may 150 per month. Another two cent production.
