hi sarah, That will depend on which hardware your using. in my case, I have a machine which came with windows xp home edition. I wanted to upgrade it to xp pro, but after my sighted friend and i performed the clean install, there was no sound. It finally turned out that the sound drivers and the drivers for USB 2 support needed to be installed. So, to cut a long story short, it will totally depend on the make of your hardware.
