I agree with those list members who have recommended as much memory as you
could possibly afford. A 250 or so gig hard drive is more than adequate. I
would also recommend two gigs of memory with Vista. Because of the sound
stacking introduced in JAWS 9, you may even operate with one gig of RAM but two
gig will be an industry standard particularly with Vista. When I was under
contract with Axiom Resources Management of Falls Church Virginia, we always
used to say that memory was the electronic equivalent to gold. I own a Dell
laptop with two gig of RAM and that has been adequate for me. With a 250 or
260 gig hard drive you could if the need arises add two gig of virtual memory.
I just reminded myself that I need to review the procedures for adding virtual
memory to my system as well. Good luck.
