if you use a program called hitman pro, it will install a multitude of programs and use them for you. It is not a good idea to use just one, however, if you wanted to use just one, probably spyware blaster, as it blocks spyware from entering your system in the first place. Avast would be good for antgivirus programs, and you only need one of those. Zonealarm would be a good firewall, and again, you only need one of those. Apart from that, you should be fairly secured.
