Hi, we know the problem at her college. They've installed Baricuda web 
filter, and that appeared to have blocked both automatic updates and the 
Windows Update site from working. This has been going on for several months. 
I'm trying to get her to contact technical support, but I guess she's 
running out of patience, plus she's leaving her college in July for good 
anyway. I got the update directly from the Microsoft site that David posted, 
so I have no reason to believe that it'll be defective, but thanks for the 
warning anyway; it was greatly appreciated.
