Hi Terry, I hope that I am not confusing the issue here, but I had a Western Digital 500 GB internal hard drive which failed for me in less than two years (20 month to be exact). On the other hand, I have an 120 GB internal hard drive which is more than 4 years old.
I know that I am doing apple and oranges with external and internal hard drives. I do have a Mastor 500 GB external hard drive which is working fine for over two years. I also purchased 2 Hitachi 500 GB internal hard drives, one to replace my failed WD hard drive and the other one which is encased in an external case. I think that the Hitachi were rated pretty good. Does anyone else have any experience with the Hitachi hard drives? The price that you listed for the WD external hard drives have really come down since I bought my hard drives. For example, The one that has an external case was purchased for $90, but the case was $70. Anyway, just my two cents on this subject.
