Good we are narrowing things down.
I would suggest your next step is to run Jaws in default mode.

To do this copy and paste the following line into the run dialogue box on
the start menu.
Jaws8 /default
The best way is probably to do the copying in NVDA then quit NVDA.
Press windows key then r
Press control v
Press Enter

Jaws should start with default settings.

Try this for a while to see if the weird typing appears again.

If it does the next step is probably a repair or re-install of Jaws.
If things are OK you look to back up your settings files like Dictionary
Manager and re-customise your Jaws. But first things first.

David Griffith

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Adding of signs revisited

Hi again!
I'm back with some further analysis. I've been using NVDA now exclusively
for these two days and the problem with random adding of various signs
doesn't seem to happen there; so it might be a JAWS issue in the end.
Thinking about it, I did notice it only some days after re-installing JAWS
8; no other software was installed in between. Specifically it's JAWS
8.0.423 on Windows XP Pro.
Thanks,
Martina
