I would go for an HP, an IBM/lenovo, a toshiba, or an acer with 2 GB of ram and as much hnard drive space that you can get. Of course this will all depend on what you're going to use your computer for. As for protection software, I would recommend Avast for antivirus, spybot, Super antispyware, and spyware blaster for spyware protection, and Comodo firewall. Thanks Nimer J
