You should go to the relevant website to check if you have the right and
latest driver for your particular Windows version. Once you have this. I
would suggest;

1. Did you plug the scanner in before installing the driver? This sometimes
causes problems.
2.  I would unplug the scanner. Uninstall the software. Restart the
computer. Re-install the driver. Restart the computer again and after
everything has stopped loading plug the scanner into a different USB port.
5. If this does not work the only thing I can suggest is to go to Device
Manager and delete your USB driver and allow windows to re-install it after
a reboot. This sometimes corrects errors with device recognition . .
 I am a bit hesitant to go into how to do this but will do so if you need
advice. As with all these adjustments there is a small risk involved.

It might be better to speak to a tech support first to see if there are any
known issues with your setup and the driver.
