This seems to be a defect in Windows Mail. I had it happen several times and gave up and bought Office 2007 to use Outlook. It may have a fix if you get the new service pack. But here is what you can do to get by this problem. Use Windows Explorer to find the Outbox folder. Windows Key plus E will open Explorer. I don't remember the exact location, and that may depend on your personal settings. Once you find the Outbox folder, delete it. Make sure nothing else is in it that you want to keep. The next time you use Windows Mail it will create a new Outbox folder and the stuck e-mail will be gone.
