Subject: [Blind-Computing] The Windows Live messenger saga: continued

I think I've eliminated AVG firewall from my Windows Live messenger
problem. I managed to rest all the firewall settings to that I had to
recreate all my firewall rules, and this time definitely opted to allow
Windows Live Messenger to communicate with the internet. Unfortunately it
still doesn't work. However now, sometimes I get a message telling me that
messenger cannot sign in. this provides me with a troubleshoot button, which
then tells me that there are problems that Messenger can repair. I click the
repair button, which then tells me that there are items in my .hosts file do
I want to repair them. Having clicked yes, I still have the same problem
over and over again. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can fix
this? I've tried doing a search for my .hosts file, and I can't find it.
Cheers
Alex
