A path is the exact location of a given file. For example the file path to my clock program is as follows:
C:\tools\clock.exe That is the exact location of that particular file. The thing is computers are not very smart meaning they do not know how to find anything unless they are told exactly where to look or are given a pre defined place to search for the file in question. Now since the windows directory is set in memory as a pre defined path for this system to search for a file I could place my clock in there and just simply type clock in the run dialog box and the computer would find it, but I have chosen to keep such items separate for easy of finding them.
