Seagate is good.
Yes, you can just plug it in tho the USB port on your desktop and Windows 
will find it and let you open it just like it would if you connected any 
otehr kind of drive, such as a flash/thumb drive.
You can put files and retrieve them on your laptop by sinding them to that 
drive or coppying and pasting them there.
Yes, you can just plug it into the USB port on your laptop and get htose 
fules.

Today we bought a 250/GB external harddrive name brand, SEA GATE.
I wanted to ask if this is a brand that works as good as the rest of them,
Western Digital?

Also, do I just plug it into the USB slot and windows will automatically
