Mike,

>From your description, my guess is that the humming sound that you are
hearing is known as a 60-cycle hum which comes from the frequency of your
home's electrical circuits. Have you re-arranged any of your computer
system's components recently or added some electrical device to the circuit
into which your sub-woofer is connected? If the sub-woofer's 110-volt plug
is not designed to prevent reversing the way it is plugged into the
electrical outlet, try reversing that plug and see if that has any effect.
You could also try plugging your sub-woofer's 110-volt power cord into an
outlet that is on a different household circuit.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Computer speaker question

Hi All,

I am using a 2.1 speaker system. With the computer on or off I get a
humming/buzzing sound through the speakers when the speaker volume is turned
all the way down. If I unplug the speakers from the computer it doesn't
stop. The only way to stop this humming/buzzing sound is to unplug the sub
woofer from the 110 volt outlet. This sound just started happening and I
don't know what is causing it. Has anyone ever had this type of problem?
Can someone tell me what is causing this humming/buzzing sound? I am
wondering if I have a problem or if this is something that happens from time
to time. All advice and information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
all very much.

Mike
