Hi Mike, Do you happen to have your cell phone at or near the computer desk where you're working?
The only other possibility is that the plug you have the speakers plugged into is not grounded, and that can be dangerous, both for you and your computer, especially during a thunder and lightening storm. I would look into fixing that right away, as this could come back and bite you on the behind.
