This is the normal way for Word to operate.
There may be a place in settings where you can tell Word not to prompt
you about saving changes, but this is a very good feature to have.
It saves you from the frustration of closing a file and accidently not
saving the changes.
So treat this is a good thing.  It only takes a quick key stroke to say
No, if you don't want to save the changes.
But more often, you will be thankful for it.
