Oh gosh! I might have to try that then, but then she'll lose access to critical security updates won't she?

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Problems with Friend's Laptop

Chris:

Just wondering, did these problems show up after the upgrade to service pack
3? If so, might want to do a system restore to return to service pack 2.
Service pack 3 doesn't work successfully on all windows XP systems. My
wife's work computer wouldn't grant access to the internet after the
upgrade. Returned to SP2, and the internet connection was restored.

Hi all,
I went to look at my friend's HP laptop running XP Home SP3 today, and I've
noticed some problems with it. First, a DVD I created earlier on today
refused to read despite it being a DVD-RW drive. It didn't even spin, and,
when I tried to access what was the D drive from the run dialogue box, I
received the following error:
"d:\ is not accessible. The requested operation was not performed due to a
device i/o error"
Something like that. What on earth does this mean, and how can I fix it
please?
