Marvin, While Avast is mostly accessible, they didn't do a very good job in making the menu bar accessible. From the keyboard it's almost not usable with standard commands and it will be necessary for you to use your Jaws cursor to access the menus. You'll need to use the JAWS cursor not only to open the menus but also to arrow down through the pull-down menu choices. Some hotkeys work; for example, I think you can use alt T to open the tools menu but it will take some practice. I even think that the alt key does move across the menu bar but JAWS will not vocalize these options, which is why you'll need the Jaws cursor and the left click key, the slash key on the numpad. The free version of Avast does not have scheduling options for scanning for viruses and spyware. However, the program does check for updates every four hours and this can be adjusted in the free version by accessing the program settings dialog. The best way to access this dialog is through the system tray. Make sure that you uncheck both options for enabling skins.
