Hello Victor, Thanks for your response.
All of this started happening right after I explored this power options section of the control panel. That night I shut down the computer, as I usually do, and the next morning when I went to turn it on, a simple press of the power button did nothing. It took me a few minutes, after panicking that I may have a dead computer, to think that I should press and hold the power button. This has been going on for about three weeks now; I have experimented with all the settings in the power options, and I still can't get it right. This is not hibernation or stand-by; I am actually shutting the computer down. The weird thing is: is that when I have gone in to hibernation or stand-by to see what happens, after 30 minutes the computer still goes to sleep, and windows has to reboot when I press and hold the power button to turn it back on. In the advanced tab of the power options, there is an item which says something like: when you press the sleep button, do you want your power button to do nothing, stand by, shut down, or ask me what to do. I never pressed any sleep button. What sleep button are they making reference to, where is it, and how does one disable it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
