Hi, Karleen. If I lived in a small apartment and had to use a laptop, I'd learn the laptop layout. I looked at my jaws quick reference guide and it looks like the keystrokes aren't that hard to learn.

Alsokeep in mind that a full keyboard is going to limit how compact the laptop is. If that doesn't matter to you and you want a full keyboard, I'd say go for it, but if you want something small I would recommend learning the laptop layout which isn't that difficult. I even figured it out and people on this list can 
tell you that I'm not exactly a pro.  Just my thoughts on the matter.

How hung up are you on the full sized keyboard?
I have a three year old Dell Inspiron that has been
thoroughly used and abused and like that old Time-X
commercial "it takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
It uses a standard laptop keyboard layout.
I have jaws 8, xp-Pro and Office-XP again with no
complaints.

Michael, I'm using an HP right now as i write and have

used it for two

years
with absolutely no problems with JAWS!  I'm using JAWS 9

presently with

Windows XP Pro.
