Hi, any computer that still has Windows 2000 probably is at least 6 years old. That is really the end of its effective lifespan. Spending money to purchase a new operating system would be a poor investment at this point. Setting that money aside towards the purchase of a new computer is more prudent. The cheapest means of getting a new operating system is to have it preinstalled on a new PC. If she does decide to upgrade to Windows XP despite this the service packs are all free upgrades from previous versions of XP so she should use the latest (sp3). Hth Frank Ventura, MCP

Would she be better off switching to XP Pro? If she would be better off switching to Xp Pro, should she try to get SP2 or SP3? She does not use any screen reading programs or magnification programs, she is one of those so called "normal " people. If Xp would be better for her I would like to find it for her for Christmas. All information and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much. Have a great weekend and take care.
