I've had issues with reputable sites as well on occasion. It seems that there's
hackers or third parties that can mess with common or popular websites and give
you viruses just by visiting the website and associated webpages. I'd be
careful and just keep blocking whatever it picks up. I've been using AVG for a
while and it does its job well.
Maybe if you need to you can write to NYTimes and let them know about the
website issues. If they aren't already aware, they will likely be able to look
into the issue.
