Subject: [Blind-Computing] Advance Page Settings in IE/6?

I am wondering if I should have this one item checked in my options settings on the advance-tab page?

Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)-ON

The reason I am asking is, when I first turn on my computer and this has always been the case, so it's not like suddenly this happened..

I hear something based on my hearing ability as there is no text associated to copy to make sure of what I'm hearing, but finding this item on the advance-tab page it has to do with this very thing..

I hear: FPB SRV

or it could be:

FPV SRV

Anyways, that has to do it's thing before anything else comes up and including Jaws..

So do I keep it as it is or, is it safe to uncheck it or turn the setting to off?

This is an HP machine running xp pro and IE 6. I do have a 2 wire Gateway modom which is also firewall protected with a router.

Thanks,

Patricia
