Hi Annette,

In most cases, you can just go ahead and do it, and you don't need an
internet connection to do it.

You simply place the e-mail address in the to field of the message, and send
away.

You may have to activate this feature on your hand set, or with your
provider, but in most cases, this is free.

For example, when I first did it, this service had to be activated by me,
using my text message service.

I sent myself a message, and I was notified that I had an e-mail text
message.

It told me that to activate this service, all I had to do was reply to the
message with a yes or no.

Naturally, I responded with a yes, and, from that point on, I could receive
the messages on my cell phone.

You have to make sure the person sending you the text message is sending it
in plain text, otherwise the message will come down as a multimedia message,
which your provider may charge you extra for.

You also have to make sure you have a really good text message plan, as it
will take you a text message, or, at least, it did with my provider, to
reply to the notification that you wish to download/receive the text
message.

I guess this is a protection in case you get a spam message, or, if someone
sends you a virus. That sort of thing.

In any case, just place the person's e-mail address in the to field of your
text message, and type the message as you normally would.

Again, you may have to activate this service with your provider, possibly
using your handset, and/or, by calling them, but you'll know whether you're
capable of this once you try to send out your first message.

You can also try it for yourself, by sending yourself a text message from
your e-mail client.

Hope this helps.
