Hi Victor,
thanks for your suggestions. You weren't being patronizing at all. As you
said, you don't know what I do or don't know, and more information is always
better than not enough "smile".
I have installed Talks onto two previous phones. But it was a while ago. I
know you can only do part of the installation using Jaws. While the rest
must be done on the phone itself(and so without speech). However, I thought
hitting enter on the files on my desktop, automatically launches PC suite
for the installation process. I asked this on the Talks users list, and
nobody corrected me.
I already have the tutorial you suggested. It is the same one, I used
when installing Talks previously. Did you also suggest that I can launch PC
suite myself and click on the files through that? I thought the same, but I
don't seem to find an option to let me do that. All I get is "connect a
phone, minimize the program, and close the window" as option choices.
Do you have any more suggestions?
Thanks Jason

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] problem installing software
Hi Jason,
Are you aware that the software installs through the phone itself?
Some people, myself included, when I first got the phone, thought that PC
Suite would install the software for me, and I could use the computer,
with Jaws installed to install the software for me, however, I quickly
found out that wasn't the case.
Once your computer says are you sure you want to open this software, and
you reply with run, then the software, PC Suite, should send the software
to the phone.
I'm assuming you have the phone connected to your computer when you do
this?
The only problem is that the phone is not a talking install, so you have
to do it, sight unseen.
There is a great site you can visit, with a detailed step by step audio
instruction on how to do this, meaning, how to install talks onto a phone,
without speech.
The site is:
http://3p.blindsea.com/
I just visited the site, and have gotten the direct download link for the
file, so download it, and go ahead and listen to it.
The link to download the file is:
http://3p.blindsea.com/casts/talks03seminar-07-29-2006.mp3
That's where I got the file I used to install the update onto my phone.
It's an MP3 file, and really detailed, as the person installing talks does
it from the beginning.
I should also note that you'll find the latest Talks updates for your
particular phone, so you should download the updates for Talks there also.
Hope this helps.
Oh, I almost forgot. You have to use PC Suite to enter on the file you
want to install, otherwise the software installs onto your computer, which
your computer won't run, hence why nothing happens when you activate the
install.
Sorry to be so patronizing, but I have no way of gauging how much
experience you have in these types of things. Smile.
