Hi Don,
First thing, you should download and run the Vista upgrade advisor from
Microsoft.
This utility will scan your system, and give you a report on both software
and hardware compatibility.
More than likely, you will need updated drivers for your hardware
Next, backup any personal data files.
You will need a separate internal drive, or an empty partition on which to
install Vista, in order to make the machine a dual boot.
In either case, the partition you are installing Vista on to, must be a
primary partition, not a logical one.
The primary partition for Vista, should be at least 40gb.
