HI. I didn't think of that. Although, I use headphones and not the speakers. I'll try using both and see. I'll also play some sound files while JAWS is off and see if it still crackles at all. The good news so far is that it's not crackling real bad as of yet. Maybe I can zero in on the problem. Thanks for the tips.

Firstly, if you have speakers attached to that computer, try replacing them with something else, and see if that changes anything. Apart from that, you could also try killing jaws and see if while just sitting there it still crackles as such. All comes down to that the most common source of a crackling sound of this type is that some or other bit of insulation in the wiring/components of the sound system has as such become imperfect as such, and a form of static electricity is causing this sound.
