Hi, Deb. System access to go wouldn't start for me either. I wanted to go on it so I could re-register but I couldn't even get in. I contacted Serotek by email and they said to set internet explorer to the default settings. I tried doing that and I still got the same message that system access wouldn't be able to start.Rosemarie----- Original Message ----- From: "Deb Caldbeck" <[email protected]> To: "'Dan Mccurley'" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>Sent: Monday, January 26, 2009 6:06 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] NVDA VERSUS SYSTEM ACCESS TO GO, COMPARISONHere is how I dgot System Access site to work. I closed all programs. Opened my web browser and entered the site name. Then with JAWS still running I entered on begin. I did not shut JAWS off until I had System Access installed. Hope this helps! I couldn'taccess either website. On the system access to go, it gave a welcome message and to hit enter to begin then threw me back to the blind computing message.[email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rosemarie Chavarria" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2009 2:32 PMSubject: Re: [Blind-Computing] NVDA VERSUS SYSTEM ACCESS TO GO, COMPARISONHi, John. It really is incredible what system access to go can do. I signed up for a free account where I log into the site to use the screen reader and it's wonderful. It really is amazing that you can use it on any computer. All you have to do is log in type in your account number (phone number), your pin number and you're good to go. You sit down at a computer where you've never been before. With a few keystrokes or even a thumb drive if you're a paying customer, you can activate a screen reader and navigate quite a bit. Sure, it's limited but can some of these otherscreen readers do that? I know I'm a newby to this technology and maybe that's why I think it's amazing. Good to hear from you Rosemary. I use system access to go when I shop on the Albertsons websiteand it's wonderful. I don't get that weird technical error message when I'm trying to read my order to see if it went through. I like that youcan use it on any computer. You don't download that program unless you are a paying customer. You can use it free by signing up, getting your account number and PIN,then going to the site, http://www.satogo.com and signing in again. Now, once SA is running, you can move to any site youwant and it will keep on going. That's how it works. The idea was tocreate a speech driven screen reader which is accessible to anyone on anycomputer with a sound board. The great part is that you can change thevoices, speed, volume and so on and then save them. If you have an account, you can then bring up that screen reader wherever you are. I used it once at my niece's house and she and her husband were amazed. I could navigateher computer resonably well except for the areas where she had changedthings like the screen magnification and things like that. What an incredibel tool! On that web site you will need to choose"Full Channel Line Up" to experience the same situation. With Jaws and NVDA , the speech quit almost immediately. As I mentioned inan earlier message, I believe that the problem exists in the fact thatthere are Flash links all over this page. Jaws and NVDA both got jammed up bythese links and quit entirely. There was literally no way to get themback and I tried everything. Next, I took System Access To Go for a spin and what do you know, it worked! For some reason, I'm still not sure why, SA read the links but did not get hung up. On our list is a member called Debbie. She mentioned a web site provided by ABC, http://www.abc.com and I think that this site has the same problems as the newly designed XM Radio page does.CONCLUSION: For some limited purposes, System Access, although it's avery limited tool, will work where Jaws and NVDA do not. I thought some of the people here might find this interesting.
