I know that when I've gotten a lot of items on my desktop, some things become hidden to me if I'm simply arrowing around to find them. When that has been the case, I just hit the first letter of the shortcut I'm trying to find. In your case, try hitting M repeatedly til you hear my computer. If that doesn't seem to help, I'm not sure what you'd need to do.
