Hi list, It's AC. I am searching for a microphone that can be used for on-line chatting, voice recording for a podcast, or just for note taking. Also if possible, I would like to find some type of speakers or headset with all of the above capabilities. I have a 4 year old HP Pavilion notebook. I believe I only have one more USB port available, and it is located on the right side of my computer when it is facing me. I have read about there being USB hubs to expand the ports. Are there any recommendations? Also How do you determine if your USB port is 2.0 or an earlier version? On the left side of my laptop, I have a couple of jacks for audio output/input. The one next to my DVD R/RW drive is for plugging in headphones, and I believe the second one is for a set of speakers or microphone. There is also another horizontal slot for something else next to these two jacks, but I don't know what it is for. However, I tried using a Phillips Universal microphone I bought from Wal-Mart but it didn't fit into the second jack. I even used the jack adapter that came with it but no go. I tried it in the first jack, but the audio was muted, so I unplugged it. I am guessing that the first jack is for audio output only. Do any of you have any more suggestions for other microphones/headsets/speakers that I can try with my system and where I can get them? I am using Windows XP Home SP2 and Jaws 8 on a HP Pavilion ZD8000. I Hope this e-mail wasn't too long. :) Thanks in advance.
