Bill, there is some kind of misunderstanding here. What you have suggested
prevents attachments from opening, but being downloaded. My problem is that
every time there is an attachment, the message comes up. Could you be a
little more elaborate? If I understand you correctly, you mean the options
menu under tool, but as I said that feature is checked, so the attachments
are not being downloaded.

You need to open the Tools/Options multi-tab dialog, go to the Security
Tab
and uncheck the item that says something about attachments. This is a
VERY
brain-dead algorithm; as far as I can figure, if an attachment is anything
at all but ASCII text ti prevents you from getting to it.
By the way, the attachments are probably being downloaded, you just can't
get to them.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Need some help with Outlook Express please
Hello friends;
I really don't know what I have done, but very frequently now I have to go
on the gmail server and perform a mass delete of messages due to Outlook
Express not downloading even small attachments. I've removed the check
mark
specifying a particular size of message, and did all that I know about.
Is there a way to restore Outlook Express to its default or some kind of
factory setting for want of a better word. I use to download messages
about
6MB as far as I could remember, but not sure what happens now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the message I receive:
