Have you checked what sound scheme you have set at present ? You can check
this under control panel. Go to sounds and audio devices and check under
the sound tag. There is a no sound scheme which may somehow have been set.
If so change back to another scheme. I forget what the options are but there
ill be something like windows default or classic.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] My sounds have gone away . .

Hi everybody,

I have no idea what caused the following problem or what to do about it.

When I got on my computer this morning, all of my normal sounds are gone.

I used to get a little audio notice when I got new Email, but that's gone. I
went in and made sure the check box was checked for that little notification
when you get new mail in Outlook Express.

I restarted my computer and the Microsoft music that plays when the computer
shuts down, and when it starts back up, is gone.

JAWS is working fine.

I also noticed a problem with a game I play. It's Monopoly from Jim Kitchen.
When the game moves a piece around the board, it now goes very slow.

This seems very strange to me. I can get around without the sounds, but I'd
like to have them back. I'm also worried that something could be going bad
on this computer. I've had some other problems with memory, so am wondering
if my memory is going bad.

I am using JAWS 8. I have XP Pro and service pack 3. installed.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken
