Debb, it's something Microsoft just released again. Actually Genuine
Advantage has been around for quite a while. All it does is to check your
version of Windows. No. It is not a virus but it will keep pestering you
until you allow the thing to do what it's supposed to do.
The great thing about it is that it checks your system, then disappears.
That's it.
You get a little message telling you that your version is genuine and
offering to show you what owning a real version of Windows can mean.

You have the option of clicking on it and reading the Microsoft commercial
which follows or just getting out of there. Once your system is tested and
found okay, you won't be bothered again.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Windows Benuine Advantage

Hi all, I have had this computer since October. It does have a genuine
copy
of Windows on it. Why do they want me, now, to install this program to
see
if Windows is Genuine everytime I turn on my computer? Is it legitimate
or
a virus or worm? Should I install it? I have never had this program come
up before when powering up my system.

Thanks!

Deb Caldbeck
If the "black box" flight recorder is never damaged during a plane crash,
why isn't the whole airplane made out of that stuff?
