Thanks for all who sent advice on getting the data from my old 80 GB hard
drive to my new 320 GB hard drive. The issue was that I only had room for
one internal hard disk in my PC.

As it turned out, the Acronis True-Image program, in addition to copying the
data backed up from my 80 GB hard drive to the new disk, also had a facility
for selecting the partition size on the new disk. Thus, my data was
actually restored to a single 320 GB partition on my new drive.

This restore turned out to be very easy with Acronis True-Image 10. Here is
how it was done (for those who might want to consider this type of backup):

1. I created a backup on a portable, external, USB drive.

2. I put the new 320 GB drive into my PC

3. I put the Acronis CD into my computer and booted from the CD (since
there was no bootable hard drive at this point)

4. I plugged the portable USB drive into my PC's USB port

5. Acronis asked for the drive containing the backup image and the
drive to which the restore was to be made.

6. In the program, there was an option to restore the image as an 80
GB partition (as the original drive) or instead to resize the partition on
the restore.

7. I hit "go" and in less than an hour I had my system restored onto a
single 320 GB partition just like it was before.

8. I was back up and running with a reboot - Done.

Thanks again to all who provided feedback.

n Pete
