Hi David,
I forgot to mention that I was using Windows Millennium so your instructions
weren't able to help me. I did, however, find this out:
to Get rid of the log on screen

For Windows 95/98/Me (If you don't have multiple users configured):
Open Control Panel, and double-click on the Network icon.
>From the list entitled Primary Network Logon:, choose Windows Logon, and
press OK.
What may be missing is, restart the PC once the Primary Logon has been
changed to
"Windows Logon", as above.

On rebooting the Logon window will appear again.
Just enter your Name and NO PASSWORD, leave it blank, then OK it.
Next time you start the PC the logon box should not appear.

I will keep your instructions in case I need them in the future. Thanks
again for responding.
Brian

Hello there;

maybe, these steps will work for you?

XP Log-On

This can be accomplished very simply:

1. From the run dialogue, type exactly what you see on the next line
exactly the way you see it:

control userpasswords2

This will open a special dialogue from which you can select your own user
account to log on by default.

 2. You will land on a checkbox that says, Users must enter a user name and
password to use this computer checkbox checked. Leave it checked for now
and

tab once.

3. You should hear: Users for this computer: list view administrator
administrator.

4. Arrow down to your name. It should say something like your name and
administrator, like Name administrator.

5. Tab back around to that checkbox that said, users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer, and hit the space bar to uncheck it.

6. Tab to apply and hit the space bar.

7. Then tab to the okay button and hit the space bar!

Your done, your computer should boot up now without having to log in.

Basically you have now told the computer to automatically log you in without
requiring you to type the information in.
