You can also use the task manager to try and figure out what's taking all the load, but it's not all that easy when using a screenreader.

If you hit Ctrl + Alt + Del, it should come up and if you use Ctrl + tab to cycle through pages, on the processes page, all running tasks are listed along with cpu percentages, memory usage etc.

Only real issue is that I think the only way to change the sort order of the various processes to make the heavier ones be either up or down is to use something like the jaws mouse cursor to click on a column heading, and I'd do that by using the home key to get to the top of the list, then route jaws cursor to pc cursor, switch to jaws cursor, move up once, where you'll hear the column names, then move right until you're sure you're over the column you want to sort by, and use the left click key to change the sort order, and although this would reverse the sort order if it had already been sorted according to this column, you should now be able to figure out what's taking all the load.

Another thing, to be hones though, is that generally something like the system idle process will seem to be the heaviest, or have more resources allocated to it, which could just mean that nothing else is really demanding too many resources.

Has this problem started occuring recently/repeatedly/ongoing?

If it's a newish thing, then unless there's something happening with hardware, it's most likely a newish piece of software that's been installed, or a recent configuration change of sorts.

Stay well
