Sounds like the power supply has gone. If it was the fan; your computer
would still be running but eventually it will burn out and do goodness knows
what damage to it, even to the point of starting a fire.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Dead computer question
Hi
I was in the middle of scanning a book in to my desktop computer last
night and suddenly the scanner stopped, JAWS quit talking and my world
seemed to come to a halt. On investigation the computer appears to have to
quit working. Some thing I noticed is that there is no fan running on the
computer power supply. So, my question is does this mean that the power
supply is the source of my troubles or is the lack of fan a symptom of
something worse. I hope this isn't too of topic for this list. I am
desperate to get my scanner program up and going again.
